THE SHELL COLLECTOR, September 2021 Online Offering
The Shell Collector is a love for working with your hands, mixed media, indigo dyed paper and cloth, found and recycled materials for book arts and the sea.
The workshop provides a box kit filled with gifts from the sea, predrilled clam shells for a books cover, paper to create nine signatures for your shell book, waxed linen thread for binding, a box to embellish with seashells for holding the finished shell book, a selection of seashells, indigo dyed cotton and silk, papers and some mixed media surprises.
A supply list of mostly supplies you may already have (glue, hot glue gun/glue sticks, thread and needle, paintbrush, etc.) will be emailed to registrants when registration closes.
Two afternoon sessions working with indigo dyed fabric create a small bag to hold your seashell book. Line your box with indigo fabric and embellish the outside with a variety of beautiful seashells and treasures.

Learn to bind your predrilled clam shell book cover with signatures you have created with papers provided in your kit. Of course, indigo and naturally dyed text, watercolor and handmade paper will be packed with care in your kit. Finish your book by filling the pages during class demos with mixed media techniques to act as background for text, journaling, photo transfer, sketches and more.

The registration includes one kit and shipping in the United States. Once registration closes you will receive an email with information for joining the workshop on Zoom. If you are not familiar with the Zoom applications please review before class starts for a more enjoyable experience.
The class takes place online with Zoom. Expect lively conversation and hands on demonstrations, visuals and detailed photographs. The class times are scheduled for Eastern Standard Time and will be recorded for viewing at a later date if a portion of the workshop is missed or is needed for reference.
