CLOTH DOLLS
THURSDAYS, MARCH 3, 10, 17 & 24, 6-7:30pm, EST
Online class. All classes will be recorded. A link for the class will be emailed.
Cloth dolls, rag dolls, flips dolls and a history of hand stitched dolls of recycled materials will ignite imaginations to consider the process of designing and creating a handmade doll to hang as a soft sculpture, gift to someone special or display.
Consider primitive methods of recycling cloth, natural dyes, raw materials and simple to complicated embellishments of stitch and vintage adornments.
For years your instructor has had an affection towards bringing angels and other characters from real life and imagination to fruition with cloth and thread.
Bring your favorite doll or your memories and learn about primitive dolls and their place in American history.
Expect to learn about creating patterns, assemblage, preservation and early dye techniques for creating a doll to share at the end of the series with the class. An overview during the first class will have you ready to get started with your basic doll. Following classes will inspire simple clothing and embellishments. Let your imagination have fun and add simple doll making to your stitch repertoire
