Class Description: The Chinese Thread Book, or Zhen Xian Bao, is an intriguing combination of bound book, origami folds, and a multi compartmented box for storing all kinds of treasures. Our books will be made with beautiful hand dyed and handmade papers created by your instructor using indigo grown in her garden, rust printed paper and pieces of natural dyed papers for inclusion.
The class meets for two days in order to complete the book.
The Materials Kit will include all of the papers you will need, a set of templates and a link to a video from the class will be available for two months after the final hour of the workshop.
Chinese thread books originated in central China. Women in small villages made them to carry their sewing supplies: threads, snips of fabric, needles, paper patterns, and other relatively flat treasures, all folded and tucked into pockets. We will make a Zhen Xian Bao that will have 15 different compartments to store all kinds of treasures - or to create your own story discovered in one secret compartment after another.
Cost: $250.00
The materials kit and postage fee are all included in this class price. Registration closes on November 18, to allow time for kits to mail out prior to class meeting.
